Mass was declared the winner of the Middle Temple Young Barristers Association ‘Rule of Law’ essay competition at their Sixth Annual Dinner in November 2021. The competition asked entrants to submit an essay examining a legal or political topic covering a Rule of Law issue within a Commonwealth Country.

Mass' essay analysed a topical dilemma that has been faced by the incumbent Gambian President, Adama Barrow: should he have served a presidential term of three years in accordance with his promise to the public or should he have served a five-year term in compliance with the Constitution?
